Starting 2025 Off With…

2024 was a rough year for me and I haven't posted on here at all after May even though I had prepared a couple of drafts. Needless to say, I've had many things happen one after the other, some great and some not so great. Especially the not so great ones had me needing a break.
I think the problem of 2024 (and not just for me, but also for others I’ve spoken to) was, that I felt the need to really push forward with everything I had, no matter if it took a toll on my physical and mental health. That, as expected, led to a spectacular crash which in turn made me rethink my entire mindset. In general, 2024 made me rediscover myself and actually find my values again – and goals that I lost sight of for a while.

Until the end of the year, I’ve managed to fill up five journals (the cover photo for this post is of those journals) in hopes of keeping track of everything that was happening. And it really helped. I’m pretty sure without writing so much, I’d still be in a state of mental exhaustion. Filling up so many notebooks is also something I’m proud of since it’s never happened before and it made me feel accomplished, because even though it was tough, I was mindful enough for memory keeping and gratefulness.
One of the biggest moments last year was joining a painting group and a class with an artist I respect very much and finally getting the validation of being on the right path. A lot of things changed after that and I became more focused on what I want – I think one of the downsides of being a self-taught artist is the fact that you don’t really have easy access to a mentor and you can sometimes loose sight of where you are in your journey – at least that’s how it felt for me.
All of that led me to finally starting a YouTube channel in 2025, to challenge myself and to fight against all the anxiety of being present online. It’s going to be a rough going because I have so much to learn about filming, recording and editing it’s making my head dizzy, but I think it’s going to be really fun.

I hope you have fun, draw on and I’ll see you in the next post.
